JUNIOR AMBASSADOR CLUB PROGRAM GUIDELINES

The purpose of the Junior Ambassador Program is to encourage middle school and high school students to become active in Chamber and community events. Junior Ambassadors will have a chance to learn from one-on-one contact with the business community, perform community service, and earn special recognition.

One-on-One:

Junior Ambassadors will be “mentored” by their parent group, the Ambassadors Club. This one-on-one contact with these business and community leaders will impart valuable insight and leadership skills they will take with them in their life’s journey. They will also make contact with business and community leaders at the various functions they will attend and widen their scope of interest in career opportunities and possibilities.

Perform Community Service:

All the time Junior Ambassadors spend doing committee work and volunteering at Chamber functions will count towards their required community service to qualify for the Chamber Scholarship, which is awarded to a high school senior each year. By performing in these various roles they are leaning the value of community service for the rest of their life and will be shaped into responsible citizens and community leaders that we will one day look up to for guidance.

Special Recognition:

“Junior Ambassador of the Year” will be recognized at the Chamber annual awards presentation. It is open to all Junior Ambassadors and will be awarded based on a points system. Juniors will also have the opportunity to earn hours towards the President’s Award. Also, the top 3 juniors will be eligible to receive Chamber of Commerce Saving Bonds in the amount of $500, $250 and $100.

Program Requirements:

1. Junior Ambassadors will be required to attend club meetings.

2. There are several events held each year with committees to ensure the success of each event. Each Junior Ambassador must select and participate in at least one of these committees per year. They will receive points for attending respective committee meetings as well as for time spent doing committee work before, during and after the event. These events include, but are not limited to:

Annual Awards Ceremony

Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast

Engine Show & Flea Market

Valentine’s Day Dance

Columbia Homecoming

Festival Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies

Festival of Trees

3. Junior Ambassadors must maintain passing grade(s).

4. Student will be given a Jr. Ambassador’s shirt to wear at all Chamber functions after acquiring 500 points. Shirts may also be purchased from the Chamber for $15.00 each.

5. Junior Ambassadors will be expected to dress appropriately and uphold a high moral standard while representing their Chamber and community at functions. The Chamber staff, Senior Ambassador or Director will take necessary steps to curb inappropriate behavior.

6. Junior Ambassadors will be responsible for signing in at all the events in order to be awarded points, and they will be required to maintain an average of 1000 points per year to be eligible for Chamber Savings Bond Awards. The following point system will be used:
